Baby Block Baby Shower

Thursday, March 7th, 2013

We LOVE when our Brides come back to us for their Baby Showers, and Birth Announcements.  It is a relationship that can last almost a lifetime!

Caroline’s wedding invitations were beautiful and she loved the process of coming up with something in her head and seeing it come to life, we are ALL about that at The Papery, making someone’s thoughts come true on PAPER.

Caroline came to us for her Baby Shower invites and wanted to do something with BUILDING BLOCKS.  She knew she was having a boy and BLUE was the color.  We had the blocks silk screened with all the Baby Shower information printed directly on the block; we also created an insert with Registry information.  We made custom boxes to fit the block into and embellished it with a ribbon and a tag.  These were then packaged in a white mailing box with a cute label.

Needless to say her guests were WOWED, and I have to say, we were too!  Thanks Caroline for coming back to The Papery to make your PAPER DREAMS COME TRUE!!

A Lovely Gift for Oprah

Tuesday, June 28th, 2011

How often do you get asked to create a one-of-a-kind gift for Oprah?  As it turns out, one of Oprah’s friends from her early television days in Nashville had received an invitation to join Miss O on one of her last show tapings.  But that friend didn’t plan to greet Oprah empty-handed.  Oh no, she intended to present Oprah with a personal and heartfelt gift:  a poem written just for her with words strung together about dedication, honor, hopes and dreams.  But laced with healthy dose of Southern humor.  Now this poem couldn’t be handed over in any old way, it had to be presented “in style!”

Our client asked us to design a beautiful, somewhat over-the-top gift box to hold the poem.  Something that would stand the test of time, make a statement and get Oprah’s attention.  Immediately a gorgeous box came to mind as a way to deliver the the poem in a gracious manner, and that could then be kept as a memorable keepsake.

An over-sized, custom-made wooden box was covered in gorgeous textured paper and painted by hand a vibrant sage green.  Inside the shallow box sat the poem which we had hand-calligraphed on soft cotton paper and then mounted on a fabric-covered wooden board.  The entire package was then wrapped with a beautiful green silk ribbon and readied for travel to Chicago for the show!

Oh, to be there when she opened it!  That would have been a true gift.

Making a Statement with Champagne Save the Dates

Saturday, April 9th, 2011

It wasn’t that long ago that proud parents sent out formal written engagement announcements.  {sigh}  Those were the good ‘ole days when people took the time to send letters and mail thank you notes.  These days it seems phone calls, emails, texts and Facebook updates are the favored methods of sharing the happy news.  Luckily, the last decade has seen more and more excited couples sending out “Save the Date” cards as a way to bridge the gap between formal engagement announcements and everyday practical planning.   Save the dates emerged in the wedding world with the onset of destination weddings as a way to share travel information with their guests.  As more wedding magazines featured the stylish cards and packets (and today’s bridal couples got busier), save the dates steadily became standard operating procedure for every kind of wedding.  We couldn’t be happier!  From what we’re seeing this Spring, save the dates are quickly becoming statement pieces!

For instance, we recently designed a Champagne Save the Date that included a split of Korbel Champagne nestled in a custom-made black box that was mailed around the country.  In addition to the champagne bottle, we also placed in the box a matching black save the date card that would POP out immediately once the box lid was removed.  This stylish little card provided all the pertinent event information one would expect:  the names, date, location and travel information.  We printed the text with metallic gold thermography on heavy black stock and added a small crystal embellishment for a little extra “bling.”  But we didn’t stop there!  Luxurious gold satin ribbon was tied on the champagne bottle, the save the date card and the entire black box for added richness.  All 125 boxes were placed in shipping boxes filled with fine wood shred, labeled with matching fonts and sent out using U.S. Priority mail for speedy delivery!  From what we understand from the client as well as their wedding planner, Melissa Brannon of Uncommon Events, our little bottles of bubbly spread the word just PERFECTLY!
